Paper PeacePosted by Luna (Osaka, Japan) on 26 November 2008 in Lifestyle & Culture and Portfolio. On the first day we were in Hiroshima, we leisurely strolled through the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park and of course saw the Children's Peace Monument. There, you can find a statue of Sadako - a young girl who died of leukemia at the age of 12 and had been a victim of the atomic bomb since she was 2, who believed that if one folded 1,000 paper cranes, one's wish can come true - with her arms outstretched and a paper crane above her. Surrounding this statue were these delightful cranes, hundreds upon thousands surrounding the statue, and scattered all throughout the park and city as well. snippet about this photoblog This photoblog is mostly to cover my experiences and adventures on the JET Programme as an Osaka City ALT (Assistant Language Teacher) through photographs, from beginning to end.
