Sail the OikawaPosted by Luna (Osaka, Japan) on 9 November 2007 in Lifestyle & Culture. In Arashiyama, on the west side of Kyoto, after renting a boat to sail on the Oikawa (Oikawa/Oi River). This was the day of Momiji Matsuri, or "Maple Leaf Festival" where there were also performances that included Japanese traditional dancing, music, and even kyogen. These people weren't performers, but, they invited us to row our boat close to theirs so that they were able to give us fans - I ended up receiving a beautiful purple fan. They were also dropping more open fans into the river, as people would row by and pick them up.. snippet about this photoblog This photoblog is mostly to cover my experiences and adventures on the JET Programme as an Osaka City ALT (Assistant Language Teacher) through photographs, from beginning to end.
